Consumers R Us

Punk was invented in Phoenix.
Phoenix, Arizona.
I was there, so I know.
You weren't there, so shut up and listen.

'All My Friends Are Dead' is likely the best punk LP of all time. Were any live shows ever recorded? I can't believe they weren't signed back then...

I can. Supremely nihilistic punk played at a heretofore unheard of intensity? in Phoenix AZ? I couldn't believe it if they had been signed. That woulda been totally nutzoid.

The Exterminators are finally releasing an lp. It should be out in a month or so. Featuring a song by the Consumer's Mikey... also a couple by Don Bolles, who can be heard on the drum kit. Bass by Phoenix's Cris K. and the Clark brothers fill the other spots. The songs all come from a live cassette recorded in '78 at Li'l Abner's in Tempe. An opening set for the Consumers.

Very cool - any chance the Consumers show was recorded as well?

I might have a live :Consumers show around here. The Exterminator's lp is 'Re-envisioned', i.e. play it like the tape...modern recording techniques made it difficult to get the sound correct but we have a decent approximation of the feeling. We were all there, except for Cris. But as heard on Meat Puppet's first lp the lineage ...:Consumers -> Feederz -> Meat Puppets ... the Phx intensity started by the :Consumers and Exterminators held for several years.

Wow - it would be amazing if you did have a live show and would be willing to share. I think 'All My Friends Are Dead' is pretty amazing…
